CAF Champions League: Trézeguet leads, the battle for the Golden Boot reignited
On the eve of the final day of the group stage, Egyptian Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trézéguet’ tops the CAF Champions League’s top scorers standings, under direct threat from his pursuers.

On the eve of the sixth and final day of the CAF Champions League group stage, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, the race for the Golden Boot remains wider open than ever. At the top of the scorers’ chart, the Egyptian international Mahmoud Hassan, known as ‘Trézéguet’, leads with five goals. Al Ahly’s striker is one ahead of Ahmed Atef (Pyramids) and Mohamed Abdel Rahman (Al-Hilal Omdurman), both credited with four goals.
Behind this leading trio, several players remain in striking distance with two goals each: Lucas Ribeiro Santos and Arthur Sales (Mamelodi Sundowns), Nasser Maher (Pyramids), Mohamed Abdelrahman (Al-Hilal Omdurman), Younes Chouiar (RS Berkane), Aboubacar Diakité (Espérance de Tunis), Ramos Kashala (St Éloi Lupopo) and Taddeus Nkeng (Stade Malien). As the final sprint approaches, every goal could weigh heavily in the attribution of the competition’s honorary top scorer title.
